EUDR v4

Implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation | v4

house Suharsh Mittal Apr 20, 2025

The European Union has published an updated Guidance Document and the 4th FAQ update for the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), effective April 15, 2025. These updates aim to clarify compliance requirements and streamline due diligence procedures.

Key Simplification Measures:

Reuse of Due Diligence Statements:

  • Large companies may now reuse existing due diligence statements when reimporting goods previously placed on the EU market. This reduces the data required for submission in the EU IT system.

Authorized Representative Submissions:

  • Authorized representatives can now submit due diligence statements on behalf of company group members, easing administrative workload.

Annual Submissions Permitted:

  • Companies are allowed to submit due diligence statements annually, rather than for every shipment or batch entering the EU market.

Clarification on Downstream Obligations:

  • Large downstream companies now face simplified obligations. They are only required to collect and reference the Due Diligence Statement (DDS) numbers from their suppliers in their own submissions.
